Outdoor Research is looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and motivated Import and Logistic Specialist to facilitate inbound transportation and customs/regulatory compliance throughout the supply chain.  This position reports to the Inventory Planning Manager and works closely with the Distribution Manager, Inventory planners, and customer service team.


  • Acts as main day to day contact with forwarder/broker
  • Responsible for monitoring all shipments from vendor to distribution centers
  • Responsible for import customs compliance (USA and Canada)
  • Approves/monitors shipment bookings to take advantage of shipment consolidation opportunities when possible.
  • Acts as main inbound production supply chain contact for Canadian 3PL
  • Keeps and supplies compliance records (test results and certificates of compliance) for products regulated by CPSC, FDA, CADPR, TSSA (Canada Stuffed Articles), and EPA
  • Tracks finished goods landed cost variance

  • Computer literate. Familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be fluent in English.


  • Knowledge of technical customs work (GSP, NAFTA, HTS classification, requests for information, binding rulings)
  • Familiarity with USA and Canada import process and working with freight forwarders
  • Knowledge of CPSC, FDA, CADPR, TSSA (Canada Stuffed Articles), and EPA rules for regulated apparel/accessory products and substances
  • Knowledge of incoterms

  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in apparel or sporting goods equipment development.
  • Personally participates in one or more of the sports addressed by OR


  • Required: Minimum 3-5 years work experience in a related position.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Customs regulations, HTS Codes and Incoterms a plus
