POSITION SUMMARY: The IS Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for the life cycle management of Outdoor Research's technology infrastructure, which includes server hardware and software, VOIP telephone system, network equipment, and desktop computers.  The successful applicant will also be responsible for executing well-defined IS projects thereby ensuring a reliable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure that is aligned with business strategy and based on best practice life cycle management.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the MIS Director and Outdoor Research business leaders on the implementation of new software applications and IS infrastructure changes.
  • Perform IS support activities including data backup and tape management using CA Arcserve and Veeam; maintaining PC and network security; support desktop hardware and software; server maintenance and performance monitoring; support end-user remote access; supporting warehouse scanners and label printers; manage cell phones and allocate cell phone charges.
  • Maintain VOIP telephone system including phone and user management, voicemail, IM and presence administration.
  • Maintain virtualized environments and physical-to-virtual best practices with VMWare Vsphere and Citrix Xen. Maintain Citrix based presentation solutions with XenApp XenDesktop including Citrix printing.
  • Establish and implement clearly defined processes and procedures for the delivery of technical services.
  • Build relationships within the organization and with external service providers to ensure operational needs are met with appropriate technology solutions. Provide team leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • AA/AAS degree with a technology emphasis or equivalent experience.
  • Technology certifications from Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco.
  • 1+ years System Administration.
  • 1+ years Microsoft Active Directory operations.
  • 1+ years Microsoft Office, Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint.
  • 1+ years of client-side desktop support.
  • 1+ years of server-side infrastructure support.
  • 1+ years Citrix and VMWare applied skills.

DUTIES:

  • Backup & Recovery perform daily backup and recovery operations; document procedures.
  • Telecommunications setup and maintain handsets; setup voice mail; IM and presence administration.
  • Security maintain active directory; maintain desktop security; act on Kaspersky error reports.
  • Virtualization assist in development and maintenance of virtual environments; support Citrix based presentation solutions; train employees on the use of these environments.
  • Servers (SQL, Windows Server 20xx, Linux) monitor server performance; apply software updates and security patches; resolve error messages; monitor disc space utilization.
  • Network manage technical operations of network.
  • IS Hardware manage and support IS hardware through the entire life cycle servers, network equipment, PCs, printers, warehouse bar code scanners.
  • Remote Access establish and communicate policy (VPN, Citrix, GoToMy PC, etc.) on remote access; train users.
  • Cell Phones order new cell phones and manage user plans; from monthly bills allocate charges to departments.
  • Disaster Recovery establish and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Applications Support - technical support for Microsoft productivity applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint, and SQL.
